WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA FOR KIDS?
Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a state of conscious relaxation that allows practitioners to access deeper levels of awareness while being in a state similar to sleep. It involves guided meditation techniques that promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance self-awareness. During a Yoga Nidra session, participants typically lie down comfortably while a teacher or recording guides them through various stages of relaxation, visualization, and intention setting.

The coolest thing about Nidra is that when our bodies and brains are in a state of rest, our creativity and imagination can really shine through. This is indicative of a Theta brainwave pace, or a brain that's in a dream-like state. Young kids are naturally in a theta brainwave state, so Nidra can help them remember what its like and maintain access to this state.

How does it help kids?
There are so many reasons why kids may have difficulty falling asleep -- for one, their brains are in a perpetual state of learning which is often outward-reaching. A regular yoga Nidra practice can plant the seeds of learning and growing by reflecting on what's inside. The outcome is an easier path towards sleep (and perhaps a healthier relationship to stillness and rest that accompanies them into adulthood.)

  • NIDRĀ - To Prepare for a Big Day

    Ages 6+. This nidra recording is a great one to use either in the morning or on the eve of a big day. We prepare ourselves by repeating the phrase, ‘I can do it’!
